See Spot Paint

, robots shed their mechanical rigidity to embrace a sense of childlike wonder, heralding a new era of thinking machines. This installation features six ephemeral paintings on glass, challenging the perception of machines as mere instruments of precision and control. Rather than emphasizing utility, the work invites reflection on the capacity of machines for play and discovery. Like children in a kindergarten at the dawn of their journey into embodied intelligence, these robots explore the world through trial and error, engaging in an unfolding process where creativity and spontaneity take precedence over optimization. By grounding artificial intelligence in physical bodies, See Spot Paint highlights the emerging field of embodied AI, where intelligence is shaped through interaction with the physical world.

The installation weaves Korean cultural heritage into the narrative of AI’s evolution, bridging tradition with the transition from abstract intelligence to physical expression. This playful imitation of human creativity mirrors a child learning the rules of a new game, offering a glimpse into the formative stages of AI’s development. Through this lens, See Spot Paint explores the potential of intelligent machines not only as tools but as future collaborators in the creative process.
